September 2020 A Poem

None of us remember
Another time, like this September

Professional sports are responding to a couple of things
We miss the excitement that our sports team brings

Our Postal Service is in the news everyday
Makes you wonder what Benjamin Franklin* would say…

An election looms with choices that are polar
Something like the difference between coal and solar

Both are about power
How you get it, how you use it
With all the complications of an election
How you win it, how you lose it

We have the right, privilege and duty to participate
Study your voting options, don’t be late!

Pray, we can quote ‘Ol Ben Franklin and say
Hopefully on Election Day…

When it is over and all is said and done
“But now…I have happiness to know
That it is a rising and not a setting sun.” **
